Golfing

Glenwood Springs 9-hole, fun course, very casual, nice views of Glenwood, walkable but carts are available.  The prices at the restaurant are very reasonable and the food is good.  Seek out the putting green, east side of the restaurant,  and the pitching green as you exit.  One way driveway in, and another way out, so you don’t see a short game practice area until you are leaving.  About 20 mins west from Dotsero

Ironbridge – Only 18 hole Public course in Glenwood, about 30 mins west from Dotsero

Lakota Canyon – Located in New Castle, about 30 mins west from Dotsero

Fishing-

Colorado River –  Catch Various Trout, mostly native Brown.  Behind the house you will find two paths which will take you to the River.  The one to the left (East) is wide enough to take a watercraft and will lead you to a small dirt boat ramp.  The path to the right (West), is a bit steeper with carved out rock paths to the river.  Use the rock steps with caution, there is a little rocky shoreline to stand upon.  The amount of shore changes based on the river flow various times of year.

Three Lakes at Two Rivers – Species include Smallmouth bass, sunfish, crappie and perch.  An occasional Pike may be caught but there is an effort to eradicate this invasive species in these private HOA controlled lakes.

  1. Across the street from the house is the smallest lake in the neighborhood.  The paths to this lake are a bit steeper but we have caught quite a few fish there.
  2. Middle Lake – Access this lake by walking / riding a bike thru the paths connecting the common areas.  Head East on Buffalo Blvd, turn right on first street, RainBow Circle, go past the bright yellow house and you will see a trail that takes you to the west part of the lake.  Very easy access for Kayaks, Paddle Boards, etc…  You can also access this lake near HOA playground area.
  3. East Lake – This is the biggest lake which you can’t really see when you drive into the neighborhood.  It is west of the bus stop, where you can pick up the Vail Daily for Free.  The easiest way to get on this lake is to drive to the HOA building, go thru the parking lot, past the mail boxes to the large dirt area where you will see an access point.
